Deputy Chief Kyle Sumpter has been a full-time police officer in Washington for 29 years. He was a patrol officer, major crimes detective, and supervisor. He spent several years on a regional SWAT team as an officer, team leader, and team commander. He organized and commanded a regional team of detectives responsible for investigating officer-involved shootings. He teaches field tactics and use of force to law enforcement officers throughout the state. Active shooter response is among his specialties.
