Shannon Skinner

President, IBEW Local 396 and Lead Lineman, IBEW Local 396/NV Energy

Shannon Skinner is currently a Lead Lineman working for NV Energy for the past 28 years. She is also the President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 396 located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shannon has been a member of the IBEW since 1984. She graduated her lines apprenticeship in 1991 from Cal-Nevada. Shannon is a dynamic leader who practices honest and direct communication. She finds opportunities for collaboration and provides input to improve business processes that impact her, her co-workers and this involvement also benefits the Company. She is committed to finding creative solutions and common ground in order to serve the needs of the members but also to achieve a balance and align with the needs of the organization. She is an avid outdoorsman. She loves hunting, fishing and time with her family. She loves cooking for her crew and friends making delicious feasts after her hunting successes. Shannon has been asked to speak at many venues sharing her story of struggles and the eventual successes she has had with finding solutions to issues that plague both the Union and the Company. She believes in looking through the front window to see what opportunities lie ahead rather than spending time looking in a small rear view mirror looking back.
